Abed Leads Evil Geniuses to Victory over Invictus Gaming at DreamLeague Season 13 Major
When Evil Geniuses are in top form, few Dota 2 teams can stop them. That was evident as they defeated Invictus Gaming today and secured their spot in the top four at the DreamLeague Season 13 Major. The clash between Abed Yusop and IG’s frontline of Jin “flyfly” Zhiyi and Zhou “Emo” Yi proved to be intense, but Abed’s aggression and the support from his team proved too much for the Chinese team.
In game one, EG showcased their aggressive style to great effect. Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev dominated as Timbersaw, while Abed’s Outworld Devourer outperformed the competition. EG built an early lead that IG struggled to chip away at. By the time EG made their push to the high ground, it was clear that IG had no chance against Abed.
In game two, IG had to think outside the box and drafted a strong Arc Warden and a surprising Clinkz. Although EG was caught off guard, IG controlled the game and crushed their opponents. However, Arteezy’s Anti-Mage turned the tide for EG, resulting in an 11,000 gold swing and a slight comeback.
Despite EG’s efforts, IG bounced back and evened the series with clutch plays from Kaka’s Rubick. Game three saw EG go back to their basics, drafting a Doom-Lifestealer core and giving Abed a Storm Spirit. IG capitalized on EG’s weaknesses, securing a Monkey King that was left unbanned. But EG quickly gained momentum, racking up kills and taking control of the game.
With EG’s dominance established, there was no stopping them. Even with IG’s attempts to fight back, EG secured crucial picks and wasted IG’s buybacks. This led to a series of teamfights, resulting in EG wiping out the entire enemy team while only losing their Doom. EG’s advantage allowed them to push and ultimately close out the game.
Next, EG will face the winner between Alliance and Team Liquid in the top four of the Dream League Major. The winner of that series will advance to the lower bracket finals to face the loser of Team Secret and Vici Gaming.
