Surprising Offseason Development: Two Prominent European League Stars Face Unemployment at the Beginning of 2023 LEC Spring Split

Upset and Flakked Confirm They Will Be Teamless at the Start of 2023

Elias “Upset” Lipp and Victor “Flakked” Lirola Tortosa, two of the top marksmen in the European League of Legends scene, have announced that they will be without a team at the beginning of 2023. Upset, who started his career in 2016, has never been without a team before, while Flakked made his LEC debut this year.

Upset explained that due to circumstances in the off-season, he was unable to join his desired team for 2023. As a result, he plans to play a lot of solo queue during the break to stay prepared for any future team openings. He will also be streaming his gameplay in Europe and Korea for the upcoming season.

On the other hand, Flakked is uncertain about what the future holds. His current goal is to return to the LEC and perform better than before. He expressed his gratitude to G2 Esports for giving him a chance this year.

Upset’s Impact in the LEC

Upset has been a well-known figure in the LEC since his debut with Schalke 04 in 2018. He has also played with Origen and Fnatic, two iconic organizations in the league. Although he has not won an LEC championship, he has always been recognized as a top performer in his role.

During the 2022 Summer Split, Upset had the fourth-most kills in the league and contributed to 34.8% of his team’s total kills, according to League stats aggregate Oracle’s Elixir. With impressive laning stats and high damage output, Upset played a crucial role in Fnatic’s game strategy and stood out throughout the year.

Flakked’s Rise in the LEC

Flakked, alongside G2’s support Targamas, emerged as a rising star in the LEC. In his first year in the league, he had the second-highest KDA and displayed great potential. He also made his debut at the 2022 World Championship, although his team only won one game in the group stage.

Teamless Players in EU

Upset and Flakked join a growing list of teamless players in Europe, including superstar jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski, who has been facing challenges with contract negotiations. The global free agency period opens on Monday, November 21, when teams worldwide will reveal their rosters for the next year.
