Riot’s Tallahassee to Host Mid-Season Invitational

Riot Games Reveals Details About Mid-Season Invitational

Riot Games has shared more information about the upcoming Mid-Season Invitational event in the world of League of Legends, following the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Katowice tournament.

The Mid-Season Invitational will see the top team from each of the six regions compete against each other. The champions of NA and EU LCS, LCK, LPL, and LMS will be joined by the winner of a wild-card tournament held in Turkey in April.

The event will take place from May 7-10 at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center in Tallahassee, Florida, at Florida State University.

The Mid-Season Invitational will begin with a round-robin group stage, where the top four teams from the group stage will advance to the semifinals. The semifinals and tournament finals will be best-of-five series.

“We’re excited to bring high-level live competitive play (and hopefully some epic matchups!) to East Coast fans, as well as to audiences worldwide,” said Dustin Beck in the announcement.

Although the event is taking place in a landlocked city in Florida, fans are still excited about the change of location from the usual California events.

Some fans have expressed concern about the format of the tournament, particularly the best-of-one group stage. Many fans prefer best-of series, as it allows teams to make adjustments against a specific opponent between games. However, only four teams in the Mid-Season tournament will have that opportunity, with two teams being eliminated without it.

Despite this, the Mid-Season Invitational is a highly anticipated event in the League of Legends offseason. Ticket information for the Tallahassee event will be released at a later date.
