AD carry iBoy reportedly considering leaving EDward Gaming to join the LPL’s VG

Hu “iBoy” Xian-Zhao’s Possible Departure from EDG Sparks Speculation

Chinese esports player Hu “iBoy” Xian-Zhao has recently made an appearance in a video uploaded by Vici Gaming on Chinese social media site Weibo, leading fans of the League of Legends Pro League (LPL) to speculate about his potential departure from EDward Gaming (EDG).

In the 23-second video, iBoy’s distinct voice can be heard, which has sparked discussions among fans on platforms like Weibo and Twitter.

Although it’s possible that iBoy was simply visiting Vici Gaming’s headquarters for a friendly meeting, many fans believe that this appearance indicates his transfer to the team. If this is the case, iBoy would be an interesting addition to Vici Gaming’s five-man lineup.

EDG had a disappointing 2019 season, finishing seventh in the Spring Split and fifth in the summer. Their hopes of advancing to the World Championship were dashed when they lost 3-2 to Bilibili Gaming in the playoffs.

While EDG has been a consistent force in the LPL, securing their spot at Worlds on multiple occasions, this year proved to be a setback for iBoy and the team. They struggled to counter the fast-paced, team-focused gameplay of FunPlus Phoenix and the lane dominance of Invictus Gaming.

In contrast, Vici Gaming had a dismal season, finishing 15th in the league and winning only two series in the round robin. However, with legendary former T1 coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun reportedly joining the team for the upcoming season, there is potential for a turnaround. If iBoy also joins Vici Gaming, it could significantly strengthen their roster.
