TSM Sets Sights on International Success Following NA LCS Championship

Team SoloMid Wins LCS Finals for Second Consecutive Year

Team SoloMid has emerged as the champions of the League Championship Series (LCS) in North America yet again. In the finals against Cloud9, Team SoloMid secured their second-straight championship and third LCS title overall by winning three out of five games. This victory solidifies their dominance in the region.

Although Team SoloMid dropped the first game against Cloud9 in the series, they quickly recovered and won the next three games in convincing fashion. This victory was not unexpected for them, as they were the top team in the regular season. The championship win is another step towards achieving success on the international stage.

Team SoloMid’s strong performance throughout the LCS playoffs demonstrated their superiority over other teams. They showcased their preparation and skill, particularly through the standout performances of Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg. Their victory also earned them a spot at the upcoming Midseason Invitational (MSI).

At MSI, Team SoloMid will aim to prove that their earlier win at IEM Katowice was not a mere stroke of luck. Despite facing formidable opponents like GE Tigers, SK Telecom T1, and Edward Gaming, Team SoloMid has the potential to make a significant impact at the tournament.

Meanwhile, Cloud9 will need to regroup and prepare for the upcoming Summer campaign in the North American LCS. It appears that, as currently constituted, Cloud9 may find it difficult to surpass the dominant Team SoloMid.

In another match of the NA LCS, Team Liquid achieved a notable victory over Team Impulse to claim third place. This marks the best finish for Team Liquid in their pursuit of a spot at Worlds. The win also served as redemption for the team’s veterans, who were previously eliminated by LMQ in a reverse-sweep during last season’s playoffs.

Team Liquid’s successful playoff run is a remarkable turnaround considering their struggles earlier in the season. They were on the verge of a disastrous finish but managed to overcome internal issues and secure a respectable third place finish. With this positive momentum, Team Liquid can now focus on surpassing Cloud9 and Team SoloMid in future competitions.

Final NA LCS Standings

  • 1st – Team SoloMid
  • 2nd – Cloud9
  • 3rd – Team Liquid
  • 4th – Team Impulse
  • 5th/6th – Counter Logic Gaming
  • 5th/6th – Gravity Gaming

The final standings in the NA LCS align with the expectations set at the beginning of the season. However, the surprising performances of Team Liquid and Counter Logic Gaming have certainly made an impact.

The remarkable journey of Team SoloMid to the world stage has been the main storyline. Their victory in the finals, although not without its challenges, seemed almost routine. Team SoloMid had anticipated losing the first game but made a remarkable comeback to sweep the rest of the series. Their focus now lies beyond the domestic championship; they have their sights set even higher.
