Misfits shock Fnatic with Sencux’s outstanding Anivia play

Fnatic’s Win Streak Ends with Loss to Misfits

Last week, Fnatic solidified their dominance by defeating G2. However, in week 7, Misfits, the underdogs, emerged victorious once again against Fnatic. This loss puts an end to Fnatic’s impressive seven-game win streak, although they still remain in first place.

Misfits’ Surprising Strategy

During the match, the Misfits team surprised both casters and viewers by choosing Anivia for Chres “Sencux” Laursen. Anivia has not been a popular pick in the EU LCS this season and is not considered a strong choice in the current meta. Nevertheless, Misfits had a plan in mind with Anivia, which involved using her wall to prevent engages from Sion.

Bot Lane Feuds and Tactical Moves

The bot lanes of both teams were constantly engaged in aggressive fights. Fnatic eventually emerged victorious in one of these fights, prompting Misfits to switch their bot lane to the top side of the map. However, Fnatic’s mispositioning resulted in several deaths, giving Misfits the opportunity to gain control over objectives.

Despite Misfits gaining an early lead, Rasmus “Caps” Winther’s exceptional performance on Corki prevented Misfits from pushing their advantage too far. Caps and the Fnatic team effectively stalled the game for an extended period, making it difficult for Misfits to find a way into Fnatic’s base.

Misfits Secure Victory in a Long Battle

In a 55-minute game, Misfits secured their win after multiple Barons and Elder Drakes were taken. Fnatic’s over-aggressiveness proved to be their downfall, as they were punished for committing too much to fights. For example, when they sent all five members to kill Barney “Alphari” Morris, Misfits’ top laner managed to survive, and his team secured two kills.

This match was filled with intense team fights, almost-game-ending moments, and even a support stealing Baron. Despite struggling to close out the game with their lead, Misfits maintained their gold advantage and eventually destroyed Fnatic’s Nexus. Although Fnatic performed well in the mid and late game, their early game mistakes put them at a disadvantage from the start, making it difficult to recover against a strong team like Misfits.

Upcoming Challenges for Fnatic and Misfits

Fnatic will face another tough match-up against Vitality, who have shown improvement. Misfits, on the other hand, will face bottom team H2k and are poised to secure a 2-0 week for only the second time this split.
