Riot developers’ uncertain about the future of LoL Arena, despite having plans for it.

Riot Games Uncertain About the Return of League of Legends Arena

Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends, has shared some concerning news for fans of the game mode Arena. In a recent dev vlog released on July 28, Riot devs Meddler and Brightmoon expressed uncertainty about the future of Arena. They admitted that they cannot guarantee the return of the game mode, and if it does come back, it will be in a different form.

This video was recorded on July 18, just before Arena was made available on live servers.

Brightmoon explained that if Arena does return, it will be different from its current version. “This version of Arena is intended specifically for Soul Fighter, and we wanted to take some time to hear feedback… before we make any future decisions. Assuming Arena does return in the future, there are definitely some features we didn’t get to in this version,” Brightmoon said.

In terms of future features, Brightmoon mentioned that the developers are interested in implementing custom lobbies and the ability to queue with multiple friends. These are features that players have been requesting since the mode was introduced.

The devs also mentioned Quick Play, a mode where players can skip the champion select process. They originally planned for it to be released before the mid-season patch on May 17 but it was delayed due to Arena and other priorities. However, Quick Play is still in the works and is expected to be released later this year.
