Evil Geniuses allegedly signs Jiizuke following unsuccessful bid for Chovy from the LCK

Evil Geniuses to Complete League of Legends Roster with Jiizuke

Evil Geniuses (EG) is set to finalize its new League of Legends roster with the addition of former Team Vitality mid laner Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro, as reported by ESPN’s Jacob Wolf and Tyler Erzberger.

According to the report, EG pursued former Griffin mid laner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, but he decided to join DragonX in Korea instead, along with his teammate Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon. Chovy, who was considered one of the world’s most talented mid laners in 2019, became a highly sought-after free agent after his contract with Griffin ended on November 25.

Before settling with Jiizuke, EG management explored the possibility of bringing in an imported top laner such as Kim “Khan” Dong-ha, formerly from T1, or considering NA players like Tanner Damonte and Eugene “Pobelter” Park for the mid lane.

Jiizuke will join the EG LCS starting roster, which already includes former Cloud9 jungler Dennis “Svenskeren,” support Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam, top laner Colin “Kumo” Zhao, and former 100 Thieves AD carry Bae “Bang” Jun-sik. It is also expected that Svenskeren will declare North American residency, freeing up an import slot for EG.

In his last season with Vitality, Jiizuke struggled and had one of the lowest KDAs among mid laners in the LEC. His team failed to advance past the first round of the playoffs in both splits. However, this move to EG represents a fresh start for the 23-year-old and an opportunity to make a successful debut in the LCS.
