League of Legends introduces a catfish-like creature as its latest champion

Tahm Kench: The River King, League of Legends’ Newest Champion

The latest addition to League of Legends’ roster is Tahm Kench, known as the River King. This enigmatic creature, with its signature top hat, is a formidable champion with a unique playstyle.

A Unique Kit for a Brutal Tank

Tahm Kench is designed to be a tank in the top lane or a support. His abilities synergize with his passive, An Acquired Taste. Each attack and damaging ability applies a stack of this passive, which enhances his Q and W when used against enemy champions.

Tongue Lash (Q) damages and slows enemy champions. When they have three stacks of his passive, it instead stuns them. Thick Skin (E) provides regeneration and a shield, making Tahm Kench incredibly durable.

However, his most interesting ability is Devour (W), which allows him to swallow minions, allies, and enemy champions. When he spits out the swallowed entity, it deals area damage. Devouring enemy champions provides unique strategic possibilities, such as repositioning them or gaining a temporary numerical advantage during a fight.

Abyssal Voyage: The Ultimate Playmaking Ability

Tahm Kench’s ultimate ability, Abyssal Voyage, allows him to invite an ally into his mouth and transport both of them to a target location. The range of this ability is immense, enabling possibilities for game-changing plays, ganks, and overall map presence. However, it has a casting time, giving enemies a chance to prepare for his arrival.

A Threat on the Rift

Tahm Kench’s kit is reminiscent of recent champion abilities, providing unique interactions between enemies and teammates. However, his effectiveness depends on having a team capable of capitalizing on his abilities. As a support tank, he excels, but his viability in the top lane hinges on his ability to deal damage with his health scaling.

Regardless, Tahm Kench is poised to become a formidable force on the Summoner’s Rift, ensuring chaos no matter where he is played.
