Riot boosts turrets in League of Legends to strengthen defenses

Riot Games Buffs Turret Platings Gold to Bring Back Split-Pushing Meta

Riot Games has been striving to reintroduce the split-pushing meta for several seasons by implementing powerful split-pushing items like Sanguine Blade and Hullbreaker. Additionally, the developers have consistently strengthened champions such as Fiora and Nasus, aiming to make them formidable threats and secure victory. On Oct. 25, a new update was rolled out on the PBE, with Riot once again enhancing the gold generation from turret platings.

According to Spideraxe, a game designer and Surrender@20 mod, the amount of gold gained from single turret platings will be raised from 160 gold to 175 gold in a future patch. Additionally, in order to prevent turrets from falling too quickly, the balancing team will increase the bonus resistances gained per destroyed plate from 35 to 40.

Turrets have already undergone modifications during this season, with Riot boosting turret base attack damage in Patch 12.10. However, the major changes to turrets, including the additional gold rewards from destroyed platings and increased resistances, were introduced in season 11.

Although the upcoming changes in Patch 12.21 are minor, they are likely to result in the community favoring lane bullies or champions who excel at winning their lane, such as Lucian and Nami. Furthermore, acquiring precious turret gold early in the game will be more crucial than ever for gaining a significant advantage. This will likely elevate the importance of the Rift Herald and lead to more frequent and significant early river skirmishes.

Patch 12.21 is expected to go live on Nov. 2, according to Riot’s official schedule.
