Only one League of Legends champion maintains a 40 percent win rate in Arena mode

The Official Release of League of Legends Arena Mode: Taric Dominates the META

League of Legends’ Arena game mode, which was highly anticipated, was finally released yesterday. Despite being marketed as a fun and fast-paced deathmatch-style mode, players have already begun to establish a meta and identify the best champions in the game.

One champion, in particular, has emerged as the top choice for guaranteed wins: Taric, the Shield of Valoran. According to Blitz.gg, Taric is currently the only champion with a first-place average win rate of over 40 percent.

Taric, known as the Aspect of the Protector, is the go-to duo partner for many champions, spanning from powerful mid laners to durable bruisers and swift marksmen. And there are good reasons for this.

With an average placement of 2.07, Taric is the most successful champion in the game mode so far. His Dazzle stun allows him to provide setup for any duo partner, whether they are a dive-focused champion like Jax or a kiting AD carry like Vayne.

In addition to shielding and healing, Taric’s ultimate ability, Cosmic Radiance, grants himself and his partner invulnerability. In a meta filled with high damage, this level of utility is crucial for champions without self-sustain. Furthermore, Taric’s tankiness allows him to soak up a significant amount of damage, enabling his partner to deal damage from a safe position.

However, Taric’s dominance has resulted in him becoming one of the most-banned champions in the game, trailing behind Shaco and Heimerdinger. While Shaco hasn’t seen much success, Heimerdinger’s strong zone control through turrets and abilities justifies the high ban rate.
