Parent Company of Team Griffin Dissolves Player Contracts, Granting Free Agent Status

Team Griffin Ends Contracts, Making Players Free Agents

Team Griffin’s parent company, Still8, has made a surprising move by ending the contracts of its League of Legends team. This means that all Griffin players are now free agents.

Still8 has announced that it will cancel all of the players’ contracts and they now have the option to sign a revised contract or enter free agency. The company has apologized for the unfair contracts it previously gave the players. In addition, they have also announced the departure of Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, Son “Lehends” Si-woo, and Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon.

Players Have the Chance for a Fresh Start

Although Griffin has been one of the best-performing teams in the past year, their experiences with the organization have not been ideal. Aside from contract issues, some players have reported physical and verbal abuse from former coach Kim “cvMax” Dae-ho. As free agents, the players now have the opportunity to start anew and find a new team.

Griffin’s players are highly skilled and sought-after in the esports world. Finding new teams should not be a problem for most of them. This roster finished first in back-to-back seasons this year, despite losing to SKT in the finals.

For instance, 18-year-old Chovy is a rising star mid laner. Any team that picks him up will need to handle his development carefully. The same applies to the other talented young players on the team, as they will need to adjust to a new team environment.

New Opportunities for Free Agents

League of Legends fans can expect some major news in the upcoming week, as several top free agents have just entered the market.
