League’s Patch 9.3 reveals Aatrox and Akali’s poor performance

League of Legends Patch 9.3: Aatrox and Akali Face Massive Nerfs

League of Legends Patch 9.3 has been released, bringing with it some significant changes, particularly for the champions Aatrox and Akali. These changes have had a major impact on their performance and popularity in the game.

One of the most reliable sources for live statistics, LoLalytics, has tracked the stats of these champions in their popular roles, top and mid respectively. The numbers clearly show that the nerfs have hit them hard.

In a tweet, RiotAtomic mentioned that the changes have had a depressing effect on both Akali and Aatrox, causing a significant drop in their performance.

For those who may have missed the patch coverage, here’s a quick breakdown of the nerfs. Akali’s shroud no longer grants her True Invisibility, and her Q ability no longer provides any healing. Similarly, Aatrox’s Umbral Dash no longer heals him based on damage and no longer has extra charges. The ability now has a regular cooldown.

These nerfs are far from ordinary. They have removed key features from both champions’ kits, causing a noticeable decline in their win rates. Akali’s win rate in the mid lane has dropped to 40 percent, down from 47 percent in the previous patch. Similarly, Aatrox’s win rate in the top lane has plummeted to 40 percent from 49 percent in the previous patch. These performance drops are quite significant.

While it is expected that players will adapt to the changes and improve their performance with these champions, such a drastic decline within a day is quite shocking. It is unlikely that they will dominate the current meta, both in professional play and casual solo queue.
