A Promising NA LoL Talent Aims to Join LCK after 5-Year Hiatus

Up-and-coming NA League of Legends player trying out for LCK team

Johnson “Gryffinn” Le, a talented young player from North America, is currently trying out for a team in the LCK, South Korea’s premier League of Legends league. According to League community figure LS, Gryffinn is the first player from NA or Europe to participate in tryouts for a Korean organization.

In a recent tweet, LS mentioned that Gryffinn is scrimming with an unidentified LCK org as part of his tryout. This is a significant step for a player from outside of Korea.

Gryffinn, who is only 16 years old, does not speak any Korean. He is relying on pings and basic English words that are understandable to both parties, such as “gank” and “ward.” Despite the language barrier, Gryffinn is determined to showcase his skills and potential.

The specific Korean organization that Gryffinn is trying out for has not been disclosed. Given his age and limited experience in the competitive scene, it is likely that he would join an academy team if he successfully makes it through the tryouts.

Gryffinn has already proven himself as a talented player within the North American Challenger scene. In May, he reached the top rank with an impressive 1,852 LP. It is worth noting that he achieved this while managing his school commitments and streaming on Twitch.

On the Korean ladder, Gryffinn has achieved Grandmaster rank with a win rate of 68%. This demonstrates his skill and resilience in one of the most competitive solo queue environments in the world. We wish him the best of luck in his tryouts and future endeavors.
