Ssumday’s Epic Baron Steal Propels 100 Thieves to First Victory in 2019 LCS Spring Split

100 Thieves Get First Win of 2019 LCS Spring Split

After a tough start to the season, 100 Thieves have finally secured their first victory in the 2019 LCS Spring Split.

Despite their efforts, 100 Thieves were unable to win against Team Liquid yesterday, appearing out of their comfort zone. The reigning champions of the LCS maintained their win streak, leaving Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho’s valiant efforts in vain.

Even with the recent win, Bae “Bang” Jun-sik has struggled in the bot lane during the team’s first three matches of 2019. As a two-time world champion, Bang is not performing at his best and can no longer rely on his former mid laner, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, to cover up any mistakes.

Promising Matchup for 100 Thieves

However, today’s match against Golden Guardians showed promise for 100 Thieves. While the team had a rough start in the opening two weeks of the split, there is still room for improvement. The matchup against Golden Guardians was a battle for ninth place, with both teams coming off three consecutive losses. 100 Thieves had to start somewhere, and this win could be a turning point for them.

Golden Guardians are also a team that has yet to fully come together. Like 100 Thieves, they have the necessary components to be competitive, but their synergy is lacking. It will take time, effort, and possibly roster changes for them to develop into a top contender. However, since it is still the Spring Split, there is plenty of time for improvement.

A Well-Executed Game

For today’s matchup, 100 Thieves selected a sensible composition, with Bang playing Ezreal, one of his comfort picks. The game started slowly for both teams, but Andy “AnDa” Hoang, the jungler for 100 Thieves, gained a significant advantage by out-farming Juan “Contractz” Arturo Garcia. They soon pushed ahead in the mid lane as well.

Despite Golden Guardians securing the first kill, 100 Thieves fought back and built on their advantage. They eliminated Henrik “Froggen” Hansen and, with the help of the Rift Herald, took down the mid lane tower.

In the mid game, there was a tense back-and-forth between the two teams, with 100 Thieves gaining the advantage after some unnecessary trades. Bang showed more confidence, recovering from his initial setback in the bot lane and racking up kills with a well-timed Trueshot Barrage snipe from across the map.

However, 100 Thieves soon made some mistakes, causing them to lose impactful teamfights and a significant portion of their gold lead. Golden Guardians took advantage and began to head towards the Baron, but their hopes of a comeback were short-lived.

In a three-vs-five scenario, with Ssumday at low health, 100 Thieves managed to steal the Baron and clean up Golden Guardians with the help of Bang.

With their advantage established, 100 Thieves quickly demolished Golden Guardians’ remaining towers and secured their first win of the 2019 Spring Split.
