PapaSmithy Steps Away from 100 Thieves’ League of Legends Team After Three Seasons

Chris “PapaSmithy” Smith, the longtime general manager of 100 Thieves’ League of Legends team, has announced his departure from the organization after three seasons. On Twitter, PapaSmithy explained that after discussions with the management before Worlds, it became clear that their vision for the 2019 League of Legends program no longer aligned with the goals of 100T in 2023. As a result, PapaSmithy will support the LCS team through Worlds and then part ways with the organization.

100 Thieves Eliminated from 2022 League World Championship

Yesterday, 100 Thieves was eliminated from the group stage of the 2022 League World Championship with a record of 1-5. The team was knocked out by Royal Never Give Up, the fourth seed from the LPL.

PapaSmithy Reflects on Achievements with 100 Thieves

PapaSmithy looked back on his time with 100 Thieves and expressed pride in the organization’s depth at all levels. In 2022, 100 Thieves reached grand finals in the LCS, Academy, and Amateur divisions, showcasing their success across different levels of competition. Uncertainty Surrounding 100 Thieves’ Future and Free Agency

As 100 Thieves moves into the offseason, the future of their League roster remains uncertain. However, it is expected that a replacement for PapaSmithy will be found before free agency begins on November 22. The only player from 100 Thieves set to become an unrestricted free agent is top laner Ssumday, who has been with the organization since its inclusion in the LCS in 2018.
