T1’s Initial LCK Game following Faker’s Injury Proves to be a Catastrophe

T1 Loses to DRX in LCK Summer Split Without Faker

T1, the popular esports team, faced a setback in the 2023 LCK Summer Split when they had to substitute their injured player Faker with academy player Yoon “Poby” Sung-won. Without their star player, T1’s first game against DRX ended in disaster.

DRX Dominates T1 in 2-0 Series

The match took place on July 5, and DRX, with a record of 2-6, was considered the underdog against T1, who had a record of 6-2. However, to everyone’s surprise, DRX won the series 2-0, delivering a stunning blow to T1.

The Games

In the first game, DRX quickly gained an advantage and kept pressuring T1, leaving them with only two kills. The entire team struggled, and their KDA was 2-19-4.

In the second game, DRX continued to dominate, securing a victory in just 32 minutes. T1 had no chance to turn the game around.

Painful Loss for T1

This loss is undoubtedly painful for T1, and it further distances them from first-placed Gen.G. However, considering that Poby had no prior LCK experience and the absence of a leader like Faker, the team’s defeat is somewhat understandable.

Looking Ahead

T1 must quickly learn from their mistakes if they want to avoid going 0-2 in week five. Their next opponent is the undefeated Gen.G, who have only lost three maps so far. The match is scheduled for Saturday, July 8.
