Fighting Pepegas and J.Storm secure spots in MDL Chengdu Major

The North American Qualifiers for Dota 2’s MDL Chengdu Major have Concluded

The North American qualifiers for Dota 2’s MDL Chengdu Major have come to an end. Three teams have secured their spots to compete in the first Major of the season in China.

Evil Geniuses, Fighting Pepegas, and J.Storm have successfully qualified for the Major. Although they put on a great show, popular team Quincy Crew, led by Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan and Yawar “YawaR” Hassan, did not make it to the tournament.

Evil Geniuses Dominated the NA Qualifiers

Evil Geniuses had an outstanding performance in the NA qualifiers. They remained undefeated throughout the group stage, only dropping one game to Quincy Crew. With new additions Abed Azel L. Yusop and Roman “RAMZES” Kushnarev, EG’s drafts have become more diverse, and RAMZES’ transition to the offlane role has been impressive.

Fighting Pepegas Surprisingly Secured a Slot

Led by Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao, Fighting Pepegas had a surprisingly good run in the qualifiers. They secured their spot by defeating J.Storm 2-0 in the playoffs. Kurtis “aui_2000” Ling will also make his return to the competitive scene after a year in the coaching role.

J.Storm Takes the Last Slot

J.Storm managed to secure the last slot by winning against Quincy Crew 2-0. Despite facing roster changes, J.Storm showed their strength against the star-studded Quincy Crew.

While Quincy Crew, Team Plus, Team Xolotl, and Demon Slayers have missed out on the Major, they still have a chance to qualify for the Summit 11 Minor tournament. The winner of the Minor will earn a spot to compete at the MDL Chengdu Major, starting on November 16.
