How to Test New League of Legends Updates on the Public Beta Environment
Instead of waiting for a new League of Legends update to go live, you can try it out beforehand on the Public Beta Environment (PBE).
Anyone with a Riot account in good standing can now join the PBE. There are no more restrictions or exclusivity.
Testing the changes on the PBE can give you a better understanding of the meta before they are implemented on the official servers.
Creating a PBE Account
If you want to take advantage of the opportunities the PBE offers, creating your own account is worth it.
To create a PBE account, visit Riot’s PBE sign-up page and make sure you meet the eligibility criteria. If you have no bans and are at least honor level three in League, you can create an account.
Downloading the PBE Client
The process of downloading the PBE client is similar to downloading the regular client. You can find it on Riot’s official download page. Make sure you have around 12 gigabytes of free space on your PC. Once you have your account and the client downloaded, you can log on and start playing.
Pros and Cons of the PBE
Having a PBE account comes with several benefits. You get early access to the latest champions, skins, and other content, and you can provide feedback directly to the developers.
However, there are a few drawbacks. The PBE servers are located in Chicago, which can result in high ping for players outside of North America.
If you’re excited to try out new League content ahead of others, signing up for a PBE account and joining the test servers is a good idea.
