The Nautilus Project: A Year of Success for the Champion-Themed Artificial Reef

If you’re not familiar, the Nautilus project, also known as the Nautilus reef, is a champion-themed artificial reef located in Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. This project was made possible through donations from fans of the OCE region, with their names engraved on a plaque at the site.

It has been one year since the Nautilus reef was introduced to the Australian bay. Recently, Scott Grattan from the Underwater Research Group of Queensland paid a visit to the site and captured some stunning pictures of its progress. Take a look below:

The growth at the Nautilus reef within this short period of time is remarkable, as the plaques with donors’ names are now completely covered up. It’s truly exciting to see the new reef flourishing and already attracting wildlife.
