Mega Popular League of Legends Champion Emerges as Most-Banned in Recent Game Updates

Milio: The Dominant Support in League of Legends

If you watch professional League of Legends or play the game yourself, you’re likely familiar with Milio. Since his release in March, this powerful enchanter has become one of the most popular picks in the game, dominating in every rank from high to low Elo.

Milio’s ban rate has been on the rise over the last four patches, increasing by 26.5 percent and leading all League champions with a 41.3 percent ban rate in Patch 13.12 in Platinum ranks and higher, according to stats from U.GG. Additionally, he has a 13.3 percent pick rate, making him the second most-played support champion in the game, right behind Thresh.

Milio’s success can be attributed to his versatility as a support champion. He can be paired with any AD carry, whether they’re long-ranged threats like Caitlyn or short-range duelists like Lucian or Vayne. He also provides a great deal of utility for any team composition, though he lacks a reliable form of engage.

Even in professional play, Milio is a top priority pick in all major regions. His high draft presence allows mechanically-gifted players to dominate teamfights with increased movement and attack speed, enabling them to escape danger and chase down enemies.

Despite Milio’s influence in the game, Riot Games doesn’t seem concerned. He won’t be receiving any changes in the upcoming Patch 13.13. Instead, the developers will focus on balancing other strong picks like Neeko, who has recently gained popularity after her ability set was reworked.

Although Milio’s win rate has yet to drop significantly over the last four patches, in this current patch, it hovers around 49.6 percent with less than a week until the next update. If he continues to dominate drafts, Riot may consider making changes in the future.
