YoungBuck Departs Fnatic in Search of Happiness and Fulfillment

League of Legends coach YoungBuck leaves Fnatic for Excel

One of the top coaches in European League of Legends, Joey “YoungBuck” Steltenpool, has made a surprising move by leaving Fnatic, a team that performed well in recent tournaments, for Excel, one of the weakest teams in LEC.

In a recent interview with Red Bull, YoungBuck explained his decision, stating that he didn’t feel fulfilled in his role and that there were internal issues regarding the focus on solo queue versus scrims. Although difficult, YoungBuck ultimately decided to leave.

Despite his success with Fnatic, YoungBuck mentioned that the decision became even harder because of the team’s achievements in Worlds. However, he believes that Fnatic will continue to do well without him. For his own happiness and fulfillment, he chose to join Excel.

YoungBuck’s move to Excel was made easier by the presence of former G2 top laner Ki “Expect” Dae-han, whom YoungBuck coached in the past. They were both part of G2 Esports.

While the reunion of YoungBuck and Expect is a positive development, Excel still has a long way to go to improve their position in the LEC standings. They finished at the bottom in both splits of the 2019 season.
