Misfits dominate MAD Lions, move to 4-3 in the 2022 LEC Spring Split

Misfits Gaming Secure Crucial Win against MAD Lions in the LEC Spring Split

Misfits Gaming has achieved a crucial victory in a head-to-head battle against MAD Lions, boosting their record to 4-3 in the 2022 LEC Spring Split and improving their chances for playoff seeding.

Misfits had suffered a narrow defeat to G2 Esports prior to this series. To avoid starting the week with a 0-2 record, they faced off against the 4-2 MAD Lions with the goal of salvaging their playoff seeding aspirations.

The game kicked off with an intense skirmish in the bot lane, where Misfits AD carry Neon secured a kill on MAD Lions’ AD carry UNF0RGIVEN. This early advantage set the stage for their late-game scaling Jinx.

Shortly after, Misfits top laner HIRit solo killed MAD top laner Armut at the seven-minute mark, securing another lane advantage for Misfits. With two lanes ahead in kills, Misfits quickly gained an edge in the early game.

MAD Lions jungler Elyoya attempted to equalize the game by focusing pressure on the bot lane, resulting in a kill on Misfits support Mersa. However, this temporary comeback was short-lived as Neon secured another kill and further strengthened his Jinx.

A fight erupted on the top side for Rift Herald priority, and the Misfits’ early-game lead began to snowball. Mersa made a crucial pick by eliminating MAD support Kaiser, leading to a four-kill play and the acquisition of Rift Herald.

Taking advantage of this objective, Misfits moved to the top side and claimed the top tower. Neon continued to find picks on MAD’s carries, making it incredibly difficult for them to mount a comeback. With MAD’s primary carry out of commission, Misfits swiftly turned to Baron, successfully securing the objective while eliminating the opposition’s attempt to stop the play.

Riding the wave of their Baron advantage, Misfits exerted pressure across all three lanes. MAD was forced to make a play in the mid lane but failed to turn the tides in their favor. Shortly after, Misfits engaged in a final clash with the MAD side, emerging victorious and improving their record to 4-3 in the split.

Misfits’ performance against G2 and MAD, their opponents in the past week, has been impressive. The race for playoff seeding in the LEC remains highly competitive among the top five teams. Looking ahead, Misfits will seek to further develop in week four of the 2022 LEC Spring Split as they face Vitality and SK Gaming.
