League of Legends Introduces New Champion, Zeri: Patch 12.2 Update
The popular game League of Legends has unveiled its newest champion, Zeri, the Spark of Zaun, in the latest Patch 12.2 update. As players explore Zeri’s unique playstyle, one item has stood out for its strong interaction with her abilities.
Micropatch Nerfs Zeri’s Runaan’s Hurricane Interaction
Riot August, the principal character designer for League of Legends, recently announced a micropatch that addresses Zeri’s strong interaction with Runaan’s Hurricane while using her ultimate. This micropatch is part of a series of updates in Patch 12.2, which also includes bug fixes and adjustments.
Change to Zeri’s Abilities
Previously, Zeri’s ultimate caused chains of sparks to be released, which acted as on-hit effects. When combined with Runaan’s Hurricane and other items with on-hit effects like Trinity Force, Zeri could deal massive damage to multiple enemies without directly targeting them. To balance this, the micropatch removes the on-hit effect from the sparks, preventing Hurricane from spreading them.
Impact on Zeri’s Win Rate
According to League stats site OP.GG, Zeri currently boasts a 52.07% win rate with her Trinity Force into Runaan’s Hurricane build. However, with the nerf to her interaction with Hurricane, it is expected that her win rate will decrease as players search for other optimal builds in the bot lane. Zeri has also seen play in the top and mid lanes, although less frequently than in the ADC role.
Zeri is now available for play in League of Legends, along with her release skin, Withered Rose. Additionally, players can enjoy the Lunar Revel event, featuring various Firecracker and Porcelain skins, as well as the return of ARURF until February 28.
