TSM Unveils New Amateur League of Legends Team

TSM Signs First Amateur Roster in League of Legends

TSM has taken a major step in the amateur League of Legends scene by signing its first-ever amateur roster.

In early 2021, TSM announced its amateur-level scouting program, inviting players to join. Now, after two months, the team has assembled a roster.

Tweet from TSM:

“We took a commitment to growing young NA talent by recently announcing our Amateur Scouting Program. Today we’re proud to present to you our first-ever Amateur League of Legends roster: @ZzzBoris @Infectrix @lol_doxa @GoricaLoL @donbraylol”

TSM further explained its scouting program saying, “Over the past few months, players from various competitive tiers have been invited to in-houses run by our academy staff. Our goal was to provide a platform for a small group of amateur and solo queue players to get a slice of the competitive experience by coordinating scrims and providing feedback over a period of time.”

TSM’s amateur roster consists of five under-the-radar players, all currently ranked Challenger on the North American solo queue ladder. Among them, Gorica, the team’s AD carry, has previous professional experience with Golden Guardians Academy during the 2020 season.

Several major organizations in the LCS landscape are also signing amateur teams. Cloud9 recently formed its own amateur squad, and 100 Thieves made a similar move this past winter.

These developments come after TSM owner, Andy “Reginald” Dinh, voiced criticism of the North American infrastructure and professional League of Legends. He expressed support for revised import restrictions and raised concerns about the treatment of North American players compared to pros from other regions.
