Caps and Perkz are the sole LEC mid laners to win the title in 8 recent splits.

G2 Esports Dominate the LEC: Caps and Perkz Secure Mid Lane Legacy

Rasmus “Caps” Winther and Luka “Perkz” Perković have proven themselves to be the top mid laners in the LEC, making them the only players to secure the title in the past four years.

Domination in the EU LCS Era

From 2016 to 2017, the team G2 Esports dominated the LEC (formerly known as EU LCS). With Perkz’s exceptional mechanical skills and the powerhouse duo of Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen and Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodríguez in the bottom lane, G2 Esports won four consecutive splits. While Caps joined Fnatic in 2017, he lacked the experience to make a significant impact in the postseason.

A Shift in Power

In 2017, Fnatic rebuilt their roster with the addition of support Zdravets “Hylissang” Iliev Galabov and top laner Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau. This revamped squad, also featuring a blossoming superstar mid laner in Caps, found great success in 2018. Caps emerged as a true rival to Perkz, who had previously been considered the region’s top mid laner.

Joining Forces: G2 Esports Reloaded

The landscape of League of Legends in Europe took a drastic turn when G2 Esports acquired Caps in the 2018 offseason. Perkz made the bold move to transition to the AD carry position, while the team management assembled a roster of top-tier players from the LEC. This powerhouse lineup went on to dominate Europe, winning both split championships.

Now, both Caps and Perkz have their sights set on the ultimate prize: the Summoner’s Cup. This victory would validate the years of hard work, dedication, and sacrifices they have made. However, to achieve this feat, they must first defeat China’s FunPlus Phoenix.

Don’t miss the Worlds 2019 finals on Sunday, Nov. 10, where Caps, Perkz, and the rest of G2 will showcase their skills.
