EU LCS Playoffs Making a Comeback in Spain

EU LCS 2018 Summer Playoffs Headed to Spain

The EU LCS 2018 Summer Playoffs are set to take place in Spain this September, as Europe’s top teams battle it out for a chance to compete at Worlds.

The Venue: Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid

Returning to the same venue that hosted the game’s Spring Playoffs in 2015, the Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid will be the battleground for the Summer Playoffs. In 2015, Fnatic emerged as champions after a thrilling five-game final against Unicorns of Love. The event also saw the participation of SK Gaming, Copenhagen Wolves, H2k-Gaming, and Gambit.

Competition Dates and Stakes

The Summer Playoffs will take place on September 8th and 9th, where teams will compete for the title. The winner of the playoffs will secure a spot in the 2018 League of Legends World Championships main event. Other teams will have to rely on their championship points to secure a spot or advance to the Regional Finals.

This year’s Worlds will be held in Korea, marking its return to the country since 2014, making Spain’s hosting of the Summer Playoffs even more special.

Fnatic: A Force to Reckon With

The Spring Playoffs give us a glimpse of the teams to watch out for in the Summer Playoffs. Fnatic, in particular, has shown great promise as they not only emerged victorious in the last Spain Playoffs but also secured a recent win against G2 Esports in Denmark with an impressive 3-0 score.

The European LCS will undergo franchising after the 2018 Summer Playoffs, which could influence teams’ decisions as they vie for a spot in the lucrative league.
