Recently, League of Legends’ fiery support champion gets a power boost with new item changes

The Rise of Milio in the League of Legends Support Meta

League of Legends underwent an item overhaul in Patch 13.10, leading to new strategies and gameplay changes. Among the champions affected, one standout champion, Milio, has been dominating the support meta since his release a few months ago. Despite receiving no direct buffs or nerfs, Milio’s power has only continued to increase with the recent item changes, resulting in a 53% win rate and 44% ban rate, according to OP.GG.

Milio’s go-to Mythic item, Shurelya’s Battlesong, remains unchanged, but the most efficient playstyle for Milio has shifted in the last two patches. Rushing Ardent Censer as the second item has become the preferred choice. Although the ability power boost may be smaller now, the item provides additional movement speed with the new component item, Aether Wisp.

This increase in movement speed significantly enhances Milio’s abilities both in and out of lane. He can shield his allies more frequently, grant them movement speed boosts, and poke and burn enemies more effectively. The overall gameplay experience becomes smoother for Milio with this strategic item path.

In addition to the item changes, Milio is benefiting from the current state of the ADC meta. The introduction of Stormrazor as a must-purchase first item has given ADC champions a significant damage boost, which aligns well with Milio’s abilities. This synergy, combined with Milio’s W ability that increases the attack range of allies while healing them, has caused ADCs like Jhin, Kog’Maw, and Lucian to rise to the top of the bot lane meta, surpassing other support pairings.

The dominance of Milio is evident in the ongoing 2023 LPL Summer Split, where he is one of the most prioritized picks. It is expected that he will maintain his presence in other regions once their competitions begin. However, there are currently no plans to nerf Milio in the near future. Riot Games may address his balance state in the upcoming Patch 13.12 preview, set to release tonight.
