RNG’s Head Coach Tabe to Miss MSI 2021 in Person due to Passport Issues

Head Coach of RNG Unable to Attend MSI Due to Passport Issues

Bad news has emerged from the camp of the LPL’s Royal Never Give Up as the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational approaches. According to Inven Global, the team’s head coach, Tabe, won’t be able to attend the event in person due to passport issues.

Tabe’s passport has expired, and to renew it, he would need to return to Hong Kong. However, entering the country would require a three-week quarantine, which leaves him with insufficient time to attend the tournament.

Assistant Coach to Step In

As a result, Tabe will have to communicate with his players online and won’t be able to join the team on-site in Iceland. Instead, assistant coach Chang “Poppy” Po-Hao will be helping the team at the event and coaching them on-stage.

While not having their head coach present in Reykjavík is a setback for RNG, the team will still be able to communicate and prepare online.

RNG’s Group and Expectations

RNG has been placed in Group A for the group stage of MSI 2021, alongside teams like the LCL’s Unicorns of Love and the LCO’s Pentanet.GG. Unfortunately, VCS’ GAM Esports won’t be attending the event due to COVID-19 restrictions.

As the Chinese representative, RNG will be aiming to bring glory back to the LPL after losing to the LCK at the 2020 World Championship. However, they will face tough competition, especially from DAMWON Gaming, who are returning to defend their title as the best team in the world.
