UC Irvine emerged victorious in the 2018 League of Legends College Championship, defeating Columbia College in a convincing 3-0 sweep.
A Tournament Filled with Surprises
The tournament was full of unexpected outcomes, as top seed and defending champions, Maryville University, were eliminated on the first day of competition. However, the grand finale saw second-seeded UC Irvine showcase their dominance against fifth-seeded Columbia.

Led by jungler Jung “Youngbin” Young-bin, who had previously played for LCS organization Team Liquid, UC Irvine secured every drake and established a substantial advantage in tower control. Youngbin’s outstanding gameplay, including a double Flame horizon, proved to be pivotal in UCI’s success.
Throughout the match, Youngbin’s relentless pressure was overwhelming for Columbia, and even when playing on less damage-focused champions, he consistently created opportunities for his team. UC Irvine even achieved the only Pentakill of the tournament with great teamwork.
