Liquid secures a 2-0 victory against Royal Never Give Up at The International 2019

Team Liquid dominates Royal Never Give Up at The International 2019

Team Liquid delivered an impressive performance today, defeating Royal Never Give Up in a 2-0 series at The International 2019. This victory resulted in the elimination of the Chinese team in front of their home crowd.

Game 1: Team Liquid’s Io-Gyrocopter Combo Shines

In the first game, Team Liquid picked the popular Io-Gyrocopter duo and introduced the first Night Stalker pick of the event. Royal Never Give Up played it safe with a standard Ember Spirit and Lifestealer combo. The early game saw both teams experimenting with lane matchups before settling into a more normal pace. However, Team Liquid secured better farm, thanks to GH’s stellar performance as Wisp, supporting their cores and enabling them to take fights confidently.

Team Liquid showed consistent dominance throughout the game, turning RNG’s ganks into counterattacks. Despite RNG’s efforts to eliminate Io, GH’s resilience and Miracle’s scaling potential as Gyrocopter proved too much for the Chinese squad to handle.

Game 2: Team Liquid’s Arc Warden Triumphs

In the second game, RNG focused on lane domination with Outworld Devourer and Enchantress. Team Liquid responded by picking GH’s Rubick and a last-pick Arc Warden for Miracle. Miracle showcased the power of Arc Warden in the laning phase, outplaying RNG’s Outworld Devourer and taking an early lead. With the support of Ancient Apparition’s Ice Vortex and a Veil of Discord, Team Liquid won several mid-game fights, solidifying their advantage.

Despite RNG’s attempt to seize control by diving into the Liquid base, they overextended and faced a punishing counterattack. RNG missed their opportunity to cause lasting structural damage, as Team Liquid’s Arc Warden split-pushed effectively, while Outworld Devourer and Gyrocopter grew stronger.

Decisive Victory for Team Liquid

The game progressed into a back-and-forth struggle between the two teams, with neither gaining a decisive advantage. In the end, Team Liquid’s coordinated teamfight and Miracle’s split-pushing allowed them to secure a dominant victory. Royal Never Give Up finishes in eighth place at The International 2019, surpassing expectations and earning $840,000 in prize money. Team Liquid advances but will face Evil Geniuses in another elimination series later today.
