Riot Games Introduces New Supergroup: True Damage
Last year, League of Legends fans witnessed the birth of the game’s iconic pop group, K/DA. This year, Riot Games is bringing together five talented artists from the League universe to create a new supergroup known as True Damage.
Akali, who made her debut with K/DA, is returning to the Worlds stage for a second year. However, this time she’ll be part of True Damage along with four other musicians: Ekko, Yasuo, Qiyana, and the recently-revealed Senna. Together, they aim to create an ambitious and genre-defying collaboration, as described in the skin line’s trailer.
Each champion from True Damage has received a new, hip-hop-inspired look. Akali, for example, has dropped her K/DA hat and mask in favor of silver hair, arm tattoos, and a gas mask to mark the new leg of her musical journey. Additionally, True Damage Qiyana has an exclusive Prestige Edition skin designed by Louis Vuitton’s artistic director, Nicolas Ghesquière.
Like last year’s K/DA skins, the True Damage skin line will be accompanied by a new song for Worlds. Rapper Soyeon from the K-pop group (G)I-DLE will return as the voice of Akali, while Becky G, Keke Palmer, Jared “Duckwrth” Lee, and Umar “Thutmose” Ibrahim will lend their voices to the group’s newest rappers.
Release Date and Prices
As for the release of the True Damage song, it’s likely to be performed during the Worlds finals on November 10, followed by the release of its music video on YouTube. The skins will follow a similar timeline, with a couple of weeks of testing in the Public Beta Environment before going live with Patch 9.22 on November 6. However, players will have to wait until November 10 to buy the skins in the client’s store.
Of the new skins, Ekko’s is a Legendary skin and will cost 1,820 RP, while the rest of the skins (excluding Qiyana and Senna’s Prestige Editions) will be priced at 1,350 RP each. Players can obtain the Prestige Edition for True Damage Qiyana using Worlds tokens from the client’s crafting tab.
