Europe’s LEC Sees Record Viewership for 2020 Summer Superweek

Europe’s League of Legends (LoL) region, the LEC, has emerged as one of the most competitive and popular regions in the world. The LEC’s Superweek for the 2020 Summer Split has achieved remarkable viewership numbers, according to Riot.

According to Riot’s announcement, the Superweek concluded with Europe’s highest peak viewership reaching over 479,000 viewers. Several matches throughout the Superweek also attracted over 430,000 peak viewers, including Fnatic’s three games and G2’s matches against Team Vitality and Origen.

Overall, Riot reported a 254.24 percent increase in total hours watched during the Superweek, and more than 13 million total hours have been watched in the first four weeks of the season.

The LEC’s average minute audience, which measures simultaneous viewers, has grown by 81 percent compared to the 2019 Summer Split, indicating continued growth for the league.

In addition to the viewership numbers, the LEC has released popular music videos featuring its on-air personalities, with one video hitting over one million views on YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram. The promotional video for the 2020 Summer Split has also achieved over one million views across platforms.

Europe has become an exciting region to watch for League of Legends, with new rising teams like Rogue and MAD Lions challenging the established teams in the LEC. This has resulted in some of the best games in the region, delighting League fans.

The LEC will return to action on Friday, July 17 at 11am CT.
