NRG eSports Announces Departure of General Manager and Two Analysts

NRG Esports Makes Staff Changes for League of Legends

In an effort to turn their season around, NRG Esports has made significant changes to their League of Legends staff.

General manager Chad “History Teacher” Smeltz, along with analysts Alec “Qwerm” Warren and Naser “Empyre” Al-Naqi have all left the team.

Replacing Smeltz will be Barry “KoreanEdelweiss” Lee, while former Renegades and EnVyUs coach David “Hermes” Tu will also join the coaching staff.

Hermes recently stepped down as head coach of EnVyUs and joined NRG Esports after the team purchased the LCS spot from Renegades.

The team announced the changes on their website today, with co-owner Gerard Kelly expressing gratitude towards Smeltz for his hard work and dedication.

The circumstances surrounding the departures are unclear, but Empyre has announced on Twitter that he has left the team.

NRG Esports has had a disappointing start to the season, only winning one out of their four matches. Last season, the team finished fifth with a 9-9 record but unfortunately lost in the playoffs to Team Liquid.
