Overview of the EU LCS Promotion

With the LCS Spring split ending in both North America and Europe, we turn our attention to the EU LCS Promotion tournament. Let’s take a look at what went down last weekend.

The Challengers

The competition in the European Challenger series this year was intense. Millenium dominated the Spring split, but fell short in the playoffs. Team Huma took their place and managed to finish in first after defeating Copenhagen Wolves in a 5-game series.

Team Huma and Copenhagen Wolves, both made up of experienced players, were expected to give the struggling LCS teams a run for their money.

The LCS Teams

The bottom three LCS teams, Giants, Roccat, and Splyce, all struggled this season. Each team had clear weaknesses in their playstyle. Fans were worried but also expected intense games due to the impressive performances of the EU LCS teams.

The Tournament

The tournament consisted of best-of-five matches. Giants took on Copenhagen Wolves in a close series, with Giants securing the win and moving on to face Splyce.

The series between Splyce and Giants was chaotic, with both teams making game-deciding misplays. In the end, Splyce managed to requalify for the LCS.

The series between Team Roccat and Huma saw Betsy from Roccat making a huge impact, leading his team to a 3-1 victory.

Giants faced off against Huma in the last series of the tournament. Giants came out triumphant, and Huma fell back to the Challenger scene along with the other unsuccessful teams.
