Team Liquid Compelled to Revise LCS Bot Lane as CoreJJ’s Green Card Application Stalls

Team Liquid’s CoreJJ Reportedly Struggles to Obtain Green Card

According to a report from Upcomer, Team Liquid’s support player, CoreJJ, is facing difficulties in obtaining a green card. This could potentially impact Liquid’s starting roster for the upcoming 2022 season.

Liquid had initially planned for a strong lineup centered around CoreJJ to make a statement at the LCS Lock In Tournament. However, if CoreJJ is unable to acquire a green card, this plan may fall apart.

Green Card Complications Force Liquid to Consider Roster Changes

If CoreJJ’s green card issues persist, Liquid may need to make adjustments to their starting lineup. They will have to decide whether to bench CoreJJ, AD carry Hans sama, or top laner Bwipo. According to Upcomer, it seems Bwipo’s position may be safe, as Liquid intends to pair one of their LCS bot lane stars with an Academy player.

Should Hans sama play in the starting lineup, Liquid Academy’s support player, Bill “Eyla” Nguyen, will step in. On the other hand, if CoreJJ is in the main lineup, Academy bot laner Sean “Yeon” Sung will take his place.

Challenges Arise from LCS Roster Rules

Team Liquid is currently facing a challenging situation due to the LCS’s roster rules, which only allow two non-resident players on the same starting lineup. Until CoreJJ obtains a green card and sheds his non-resident designation, Liquid will have to bench a highly talented player. Eyla and Yeon have been sharing scrim time with their LCS counterparts as Liquid prepares for this scenario for the upcoming season.

Liquid’s European Trio to Lead the Charge

Irrespective of who ultimately starts in the bot lane, Liquid’s lineup will consist of the European trio comprising Bwipo, Santorin, and Bjergsen. Bjergsen recently joined the team after spending nearly seven years with TSM.

The LCS Lock In tournament kicks off on Jan. 14 and concludes on Jan. 30. The 2022 LCS Spring Split will then commence on Feb. 5.
