TSM Bids Farewell to LCS After 10 Years in North American League of Legends

TSM to Leave LCS and Transition to Another Region

TSM, a long-standing pillar of the North American League of Legends ecosystem, will be leaving the LCS, according to an announcement from CEO Andy Dinh on May 20.

Transitioning to a New Region

Dinh stated that they have been actively working towards transitioning to another tier one region for the last three years. While the decision may feel sudden, it has been a part of their long-term plan.

Departures in the Organization

Before making this move, TSM had already parted ways with several members of their management team, including the head coach, general manager, team manager, and COO. These changes in the front office signaled a shift within the organization.

Speculations on the Destination

Rumors suggest that TSM will sell its LCS slot as it moves to another region. Veteran investigative reporter Jacob Wolf claimed that TSM has been in talks with current LPL organizations in China since November 2022. This has raised speculations about the team’s potential move to the LPL.

TSM’s Recent Performance

Although TSM had a successful run in the LCS between 2013 and 2017, they have fallen short of expectations in recent years. Their finishes in the 2022 and 2023 splits placed them in the bottom half of the table. TSM has also struggled to achieve their ultimate goal of a Worlds title, with their highest finish being eighth in 2012 and 2013.

Continued Participation in the 2023 LCS Summer Split

TSM is expected to compete in the 2023 LCS Summer Split. They have reportedly signed veteran player Kim “Fenix” Jae-hun as a mid lane option and reached a verbal agreement with former Team Heretics mid Lee “Ruby” Sol-min.
