TSM advances to 2021 Mid-Season Showdown lower bracket final, narrowly defeating 100 Thieves

TSM Advances to Final Round of LCS Mid-Season Showdown

The 2021 LCS Mid-Season Showdown continued today with a lower bracket matchup between TSM and 100 Thieves. TSM won three out of four games, securing their spot in the final round of the lower bracket.

TSM’s early-game control played a major role in today’s match. In all four League of Legends games, TSM obtained a Baron buff before the 25-minute mark. Even when they were behind in gold, TSM quickly turned the game in their favor.

The team’s jungler, Spica, played a crucial role in securing objectives throughout the series. In their 3-1 victory, TSM and Spica secured a total of seven Barons.

TSM to Face Team Liquid in Next Round

TSM’s victory sets them up for a matchup with Team Liquid next week. Team Liquid was pushed to the lower bracket after losing to Cloud9 in the winners final of the Mid-Season Showdown. The winner of the TSM vs. Team Liquid match will have the chance to compete against Cloud9 for the Mid-Season Showdown trophy and represent North America at the Mid-Season Invitational in Reykjavík, Iceland.

Disappointing End for 100 Thieves

Unfortunately, 100 Thieves’ Spring Split run came to an underwhelming close. Despite starting strong and securing first place, the team ended up in the lower tier of the LCS standings by the end of the season.

A mid-split roster change in the mid lane did not yield desired results for 100 Thieves. With Ryoma replacing Damonte, the team’s record with Ryoma in 17 games (including playoffs) was 7-10.

The LCS will continue on Saturday, April 10 with the lower bracket final between TSM and Team Liquid. This match will be the first in-person competition for LCS players in over a year, as the final weekend of the Mid-Season Showdown will take place at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
