DAMWON KIA Advances to LCK Spring Split Finals with Clean Sweep
DAMWON KIA dominated the playoff run after their impressive performance in the 2021 LCK Spring Split regular season. In a clean 3-0 sweep, they defeated Hanwha Life Esports, securing their spot in the finals.
DK showcased their resilience by playing to their power spikes and winning games off of key teamfight victories. Despite Hanwha Life Esports’ strong performance throughout the season, they couldn’t overcome the reigning world champions.
The MVP votes went to Ghost, BeryL, and ShowMaker for their outstanding performances in the series. Khan and Canyon also had notable showings, but it was the middle and bottom lanes that carried the team to victory.
The first game was a slow-paced affair, with both teams focusing on farming. However, DK secured a crucial pick and used it to take the Baron, ultimately closing out the game in just 30 minutes.
Deft’s Jinx, his most successful champion, was brought out in the second match, but Sion and Seraphine proved to be too much for Hanwha Life Esports to handle. DK secured another win after Hanwha Life Esports failed to find a solution.
In game three, DK took objective after objective before engaging in teamfights. The series concluded with Chovy being caught by a massive crowd control chain, leading to his team’s defeat. Hanwha Life Esports’ hopes were dashed in those few seconds, resulting in a clean sweep for DK.
Next, DK will face either T1 or Gen.G in the finals. While Gen.G had a stronger showing throughout the split, T1 has been performing exceptionally well in recent weeks. If T1 wins, the finals will feature an interesting matchup between DK’s kk0ma and ShowMaker, and T1’s Faker and Daeny.
