World Championship Group Draw Unveiled for League of Legends

Groups Drawn for League of Legends World Championship

The groups for the upcoming League of Legends World Championship have been drawn. The tournament begins at the end of this month.

The teams have been divided into four groups. Each group has a top seed champion from one of the five regions: North America, Europe, China, Korea and Taiwan. Europe’s G2 Esports did not make it to the top pool due to their poor performance in the Mid Season Invitational. It was later revealed that G2 Esports hadn’t practiced for the tournament.

The second and third group spots were filled by G2 Esports, two teams from Korea and China, and the second place teams from Taiwan, Europe and North America. The final spots were given to the third place teams from Europe and North America, as well as the two International Wildcard teams.

Defending champions SK Telecom, who claimed the second spot from Korea this time, will be in Group B with Taiwan’s Flash Wolves, I May from China, and Cloud9.

G2 Esports will be in Group A with ROX Tigers, Counter Logic Gaming, and wildcard team Albus NoX Luna. Team SoloMid, the North American champions, are in Group D with Royal Never Give Up, Samsung Galaxy, and Splyce.

The final group, Group C, features LPL champions EDward Gaming against ahq e-Sports Club, H2k-Gaming, and INTZ e-Sports.
