A new talented LCS prospect has decided to take a break from professional LoL gaming

Tenacity Announces Departure from Pro Play, Focuses on Content Creation

One of North America’s rising stars in the League of Legends scene, Milan “Tenacity” Oleksij, has made the decision to step away from professional play and shift his focus to content creation. The 20-year-old top laner for 100 Thieves revealed his choice in an interview with Travis Gafford on May 13. Despite receiving offers from other teams in the LCS, NACL, and Europe, Tenacity expressed his desire to explore content creation, citing the current landscape of the LCS as his motivation.

Tenacity acknowledged several factors that contributed to his decision. Recent rumors and news surrounding the competitive North American LoL scene played a significant role in his thought process. For instance, there was speculation about the removal of the import rule, which directly impacted the future of NA talent. Furthermore, Riot Games recently removed the mandate that required LCS organizations to field a Challengers League team. These changes and uncertainties made Tenacity concerned about the potential decline of opportunities for up-and-coming players in the pro scene.

In light of these circumstances, Tenacity opted for content creation as a more stable and fulfilling career option. He highlighted the decreasing salaries in the LCS and emphasized his passion for content creation as a driving force behind his decision. In fact, Tenacity has advised other aspiring NA pros to consider booking a bootcamp in Europe and aiming to join one of the EMEA Regional Leagues, as Europe’s pathway to the LEC has proven to be highly successful in developing top-tier talent.

Despite Tenacity’s promising performances in the NA Academy League, his departure from pro play signals a disappointing end to his NA journey. Fans and analysts had high hopes for his success in the LCS, but the dynamic changes within the region have led to another missed opportunity for fans to contemplate.
