MonteCristo and DoA will not be casting Worlds in 2021

Two popular League of Legends casters will not be part of the World Championships broadcast team. Riot announced their list of casters today, which includes other well-known personalities but disappointingly excludes Christopher “Montecristo” Mykkles and Erik “DoA” Lonnquist.

Montecristo’s absence will not make fans happy. He is widely recognized as the leading expert on South Korean League of Legends. As the former CLG head coach, he has never been shy about publicly criticizing Riot. His association with the now banned Renegades may have ended his relationship with the game developer.

DoA will not appear due to a scheduling conflict. In their place, Riot has brought in Chris “Papasmithy” Smith and Nick “LastShadow” De Cesare to represent South Korea. Papasmithy is a caster for OGN, while LastShadow covers the SPOTV broadcast.

The invited casters include some usual suspects from North America such as David “Phreak” Turley, Joshua “Jatt” Leesman, Sam “Kobe” Hartman-Kenzler, and other regular NA LCS talent. Newcomer Isaac “Azael” Cummings-Bentley will also join the team.

Representing the EU LCS are Mitch “Krepo” Voorspoels, Martin “Deficio” Lynge, Trevor “Quickshot” Henry, and Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere. James “Stress” O’Leary and Richard “Kam” Pulse from the Challenger Series will also be part of the broadcast team.

China’s LPL will be represented by Indiana “Frostkurinn” Black and Jake “Spawn” Tiberi, while analyst Clement Chu joins from the LMS. The full list of casters can be found on the Lolesports website.
