All-New FACEIT League offers more opportunities for players to compete in Overwatch
ESL FACEIT Group (EFG), the leading esports and video game entertainment company, has launched FACEIT League, an Overwatch team League operated by FACEIT. This new league invites players of all skill levels across six regions to compete for a share of the $170,000 prize pool and a chance to qualify for the Esports World Cup (EWC) this summer.
FACEIT League is built on the success of the platform’s Counter-Strike model, which prioritizes consistent and rewarding competition. This extension of ESL FACEIT Group’s agreement with Blizzard Entertainment aims to support the growth of Overwatch Esports and offer players a pathway to the world stage.
“The response from Overwatch players on FACEIT has exceeded our expectations,” said Warren Leigh, Senior Vice President of Product, Digital Platforms, ESL FACEIT Group. “With our experience in Counter-Strike, we are excited to support the Overwatch community with a bespoke program.”
The league will consist of multiple seven-week seasons, providing ample opportunities for players in different regions to compete. Players of all levels will have the chance to showcase their talent, improve their skills, and qualify for in-person events with substantial prize pools. The first season will run from April 29 to June 9, with playoffs taking place from June 10-23. The winning teams will compete for a $170,000 cash prize and a spot in the Esports World Cup.
Registrations for Season 1 are now open and will close on April 25. For more information on the league structure and prize pool distribution, visit: [insert URL]
