Riot Games Introduces New System to Combat Toxic Behavior in League of Legends
Playing League of Legends can be frustrating at times, but it’s important for players to stay positive and avoid tilting. Unfortunately, there are always toxic individuals who bring down their teammates with their actions or in-game chat. To address this issue, Riot Games has announced a new system that allows players to report toxic teammates directly while in-game. This is a significant step towards creating a safer and more positive gaming environment.
Riot is also updating their systems to evaluate live text-based communication, preventing inappropriate messages from being sent and muting offending players. Additionally, they are looking to introduce a pre-made chat channel in-game, adding an extra layer of protection against disruptive chat from matchmade players.
These changes follow a series of updates made by Riot to tackle toxic encounters in both the game itself and the client. For example, players can now choose to participate in post-game lobby chats with both teams, avoiding unnecessary toxic interactions.
Furthermore, Riot has introduced a new honor-based skin line called “Three Honors,” which may incentivize players to be less toxic. Negative behavior that is punished by Riot will lower a player’s honor level, making it harder to unlock the free Malzahar skin.
