The End of the First Tour of the Dota Pro Circuit
The first tour of the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit is coming to a close. The regular season is over, tiebreakers are underway, and the meta has been defined. Some heroes, like Rubick, have become a staple in almost every match, while others were deemed overpowered and never made an appearance.
Most-Banned Heroes in the DPC
Lina, Batrider, and Broodmother were among the most-banned heroes across all DPC regions, according to Dota stats site Dotabuff. Batrider and Broodmother have consistently been banned by pro teams since The International 2022, but Lina’s dominance has only recently been in the spotlight.

Lina’s Change in Playstyle
Lina, a classic mid hero, has found a new home in the safe lane. She now plays similarly to Sniper but offers more utility. Instead of relying on spell power, carry Lina focuses on building right-click damage, which she can enhance with her passive ability that grants attack speed.
Broodmother’s Dominance
Broodmother has earned her place on the list of most-banned heroes after TI11. She is a nightmare to lane against and becomes a formidable teamfighter after acquiring powerful utility items quickly.
The Evolved Batrider
Batrider, known as a single target initiator, has evolved into a core hero capable of taking down farmed carries on his own. He no longer relies on dragging enemies towards his teammates and can eliminate any hero within seconds. The bans on Batrider reflect his current dominance in the game.
Banning vs. Countering
Instead of trying to counter these heroes, most teams prefer to ban them in the first drafting phase. As a result, Lina, Batrider, and Broodmother have spent a significant amount of time on the sidelines during the DPC season, as their presence brought nothing but terror to their opponents.
