Modern Warfare 3 Assault Rifles Receive Nerf in Season Three Reloaded Update
Modern Warfare 3’s assault rifles are set to undergo a significant nerf in the upcoming Season Three Reloaded update, as confirmed by Sledgehammer Games today. This update is sure to shake up the meta and provide a fresh gameplay experience for players.
Weapon Evaluation Test Reveals Important Information
Sledgehammer and Treyarch recently conducted a Weapon Evaluation test period in MW3’s Ranked Play, allowing both new weapons and previously banned ones into the playlist. The results of this test period have revealed some crucial insights into the game’s weapon balance and player preferences.
Sledgehammer Addresses Weapon Imbalance
According to MW3’s lead developer, ARs have been identified as overly strong, while SMGs are currently underperforming in comparison. As a result, the Season Three Reloaded update will bring changes aimed at rebalancing the game’s weapon dynamics, with a specific focus on reducing the hipfire accuracy of ARs to weaken their close-range combat effectiveness.
“One of the first changes from this observation is reducing hipfire accuracy for ARs in the Season Three Reloaded update, weakening their close-range viability where we intend for SMGs to excel,” Sledgehammer stated.
MCW AR Stands Out Amidst Weapon Evaluation
During the evaluation period, the MCW AR emerged as a standout performer, despite the introduction of new weapons. With a pick rate of 25 percent, the MCW AR showcased exceptional performance in the hands of skilled players, leading to a higher K/D ratio.
“The MCW stood out uniquely, with a significantly increased K/D ratio for high-skill players versus low-skill players,” said Sledgehammer. “This observation has prompted us to implement a headshot damage multiplier reduction for the MCW, aiming to create a more balanced and inclusive gameplay experience for players of all skill levels.”
Enhancing Communication with the Player Base
The transparency and openness displayed in Sledgehammer’s detailed Twitter thread regarding the weapon evaluation results highlight a positive shift towards improved communication between the CoD developer and the player community. This kind of direct engagement is vital for fostering a healthy relationship between developers and players.
Modern Warfare 3’s Season Three Reloaded update is scheduled to go live on May 1 at 11 am CT, bringing with it a host of changes aimed at enhancing the overall gameplay experience for all players.
