Weibo Gaming Signs Former Worlds Champion TheShy for the 2022 Season
Weibo Gaming has recently announced the addition of Kang “TheShy” Seung-Rok, the former League of Legends Worlds champion, to their roster for the upcoming competitive season.
TheShy’s Impressive Career with Invictus Gaming
TheShy, a top laner from South Korea, has spent over four years with Invictus Gaming from 2017 to 2021. Notably, he was a part of the team that claimed victory at the 2018 World Championship.
Challenges Faced in the 2021 Season
Despite his star status, TheShy faced difficulties during the 2021 season. He only joined the LPL Summer Split in the fifth week after contracting COVID-19, resulting in him participating in just eight series. Unfortunately, the team failed to qualify for both the World Championship and the LPL playoffs for the first time since TheShy joined Invictus Gaming.
Replacing Chen “Bin” Ze-Bin
TheShy will be replacing Chen “Bin” Ze-Bin, who departed from the team recently after a two-season stint. Bin’s new team for the upcoming 2022 season has yet to be officially announced, but rumors suggest that he may join Royal Never Give Up, according to South Korean outlet Naver.
Uncertainty Surrounding Weibo Gaming’s Remaining Players
Weibo Gaming’s four other players, formerly from Suning before their rebranding, are currently uncertain about their future with the team. It remains unclear whether SofM, Angel, huanfeng, and ON will continue to be part of Weibo Gaming’s roster for the 2022 season.
