He passed away on September 26 at the age of 79 after being admitted to a Los Angeles hospital due to a sudden illness on September 14. Dennen was known for lending his voice to the heroes Rubick, Chaos Knight, and Phantom Lancer in Valve’s popular MOBA game, Dota 2.

The news of his passing was shared on Dennen’s Facebook page, in a heartfelt message penned by his family.

In addition to his voice acting career, Dennen was also recognized for his role as Pontius Pilate in the critically-acclaimed Hollywood musical, Jesus Christ Superstar. He reprised this role in various stage adaptations. He also appeared in other notable films like The Shining, Titanic, and Fiddler on the Roof.

While Dennen’s acting credits were extensive, his contributions to voice acting became his main focus in the late 1980s. Apart from Dota 2, he lent his voice to popular animated shows like Batman: The Animated Series and iconic video games like Metal Gear Solid 2 and Jade Empire.
