Steel: The VALORANT team of Disguised Toast evokes nostalgic feelings

**Disguised VALORANT Team Blends Old and New for Success**

The roster of Disguised VALORANT, led by popular streamer Disguised Toast, has found the perfect combination of experience and fresh talent.

The team’s core consists of young players, but they are guided by Joshua “steel” Nissan, one of the most accomplished players in competitive FPS history. While steel has led a young roster before on T1, he believes that this group has a unique dynamic reminiscent of his earlier days in gaming.

According to steel, “What I like about what we’ve got going on here is that this group feels very ‘old school’. [Coach] Ocean and I come from a time in [CS:GO] where you got five people together and you played because you wanted to be there and there wasn’t really money involved. You just did it because you wanted to be there and you wanted to work hard and you wanted to just win. We’ve got similar vibes but with Toast supporting us.”

This mindset has created an open and accountable environment within the Disguised team, where players freely communicate and address in-game issues. While the team is still learning to communicate effectively and compete at a high level, steel acknowledges that Disguised Toast is also learning how to be an owner and that the process may not be as streamlined as it was with T1 and 100 Thieves.

Toast himself has been transparent about his venture into esports team ownership, discussing it on his streams and podcasts. He has shared his experiences regarding player signings, long-term sustainability, and sponsorship opportunities.

As for the team’s performance, they have the opportunity to make a name for themselves and the organization through their participation in Challengers and Ascension. However, they face tough competition from teams like TSM, M80, and their opening-day opponents, The Guard. A major focus for Disguised is to solidify their map pool, which has been challenging due to changes in the game. Despite this, the team remains confident in their abilities.

Steel states, “I don’t think there’s anyone we’re particularly afraid of, necessarily; they’re all beatable. We’re beating them in practice games, they’re beating us in practice games depending on the map or the day. Anything can happen but as long as we stick to our game plan, I think we’ll be OK.”

The first official NA VALORANT Challengers League match for Disguised against The Guard is scheduled for February 1st at 6pm CT.
