Fnatic VALORANT Roster Makes a Comeback in VCT EMEA 2024 Season

After facing skepticism and humbling experiences in the early stages of the VCT EMEA 2024 season, the Fnatic VALORANT roster has reclaimed its winning form.

A Triumph against GIANTX: Fnatic’s Road to Redemption

During the second match of the VCT EMEA stage one group stage, Fnatic secured a victory over GIANTX in a grueling three-map battle. This remarkable comeback followed their previous setbacks against Karmine Corp and Team Heretics. The consecutive defeats marked a significant moment as Fnatic had never lost two consecutive best-of-three matches since their partnership began, and since Chronicle and Leo joined the team.

The Bitter Taste of Defeat: Lessons Learned

Both losses were devastating blows to Fnatic for different reasons. The defeat against Karmine Corp in the Kickoff playoffs shattered their hopes of competing in Masters Madrid, ending their streak of qualifying for international events that extended back to Champions 2021. However, the loss to Team Heretics at the start of the stage one group stage was even more painful, partly due to the unexpected boasting from team captain Boaster.

In a podcast with Yinsu Collins following the conclusion of Masters Madrid, Boaster expressed his belief that the level of play in the tournament was subpar and riddled with more errors than usual. He boldly claimed that, in Fnatic’s current form, they would have triumphed over every team in the tournament, including Sentinels, Gen.G, and Team Heretics. Boaster specifically pointed out that Heretics’ mistakes were to blame for their loss against Sentinels.

Acknowledging Setbacks and Seeking Redemption

The Fnatic-vs-Heretics match attracted immense attention, as Fnatic, once considered the best team in the world on Icebox, suffered a resounding defeat on their own map choice. They then fell in overtime on Heretics’ map pick, Lotus. In a subsequent episode of his podcast with Yinsu, Boaster clarified that his previous statements were not intended as trash talk or toxicity. He noted that although he was sick during the match week, he did not blame his illness for the loss.

While Fnatic is steadily regaining their winning momentum, they have yet to reach the dominant form of their past years. Despite their decisive victories on Bind and Split, they suffered a one-sided loss on their own map pick of Breeze against the still winless GIANTX. Fnatic’s only win in their chosen map this year came in overtime against Vitality on Lotus in the season opener.

Looking ahead, Fnatic aims to secure two consecutive wins against Gentle Mates on April 17, as they strive to continue their journey towards redemption.
